About UAE Gratuity
- Employees with less than 1 year of service are not entitled to gratuity.
- Between 1–5 years: 21 days basic salary per year of service.
- More than 5 years: 30 days basic salary per year of service.
- Maximum gratuity cannot exceed 2 years of total salary.
DMCC Gratuity Rules & Calculation

Employees working in DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) follow the UAE Labour Law for end-of-service gratuity.
If you complete at least one full year of service, you qualify for gratuity based on your basic salary and years worked in DMCC.
Gratuity formula remains the same for DMCC as Mainland UAE:
- First 5 years: 21 days’ basic salary per year.
- After 5 years: 30 days’ basic salary per year
Whether your contract is limited or unlimited, gratuity applies after one year of continuous employment.
✅ Works for full-time DMCC employees
✅ Applies to resignations & terminations
✅ Based on basic salary — allowances not included
JAFZA End-of-Service Gratuity Overview

Employees working in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) receive their end-of-service gratuity according to the UAE Labour Law, which applies to all free-zone employees unless a special rule is stated. Gratuity becomes payable once an employee completes one full year of continuous service.
How gratuity is calculated in JAFZA:
- For the first 5 years, employees earn the equivalent of 21 days of basic salary per complete year.
- After 5 years, the entitlement increases to 30 days of basic salary for every additional year.
- Calculation is always based on basic salary only, without any allowances.
- Applies to resignations and terminations.
- Valid for full-time JAFZA employees with uninterrupted service.
DDA Gratuity Rules & Calculation

Employees working under the DDA (Dubai Development Authority) fall under the UAE Labour Law for end-of-service benefits. If you complete at least one full year of service, you are eligible for gratuity based on your basic monthly salary and the total years you worked.
Your gratuity is calculated only on basic salary, not on total pay or allowances.
This applies to both limited and unlimited contracts, and is valid whether the employee resigns or the contract ends — as long as the service period requirement is met.

Employees working in the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) are not under the traditional UAE gratuity system.
Instead, DIFC operates the DEWS scheme (DIFC Employee Workplace Savings Plan) — a monthly employer contribution system that replaces end-of-service gratuity.
How DIFC End-of-Service Works?
These contributions are invested and can grow over time, giving employees a transparent and secure end-of-service savings plan.
Key Points:
✅ DEWS replaces traditional gratuity in DIFC
✅ Monthly employer contributions (not lump-sum at end)
✅ Based on basic salary, not total income
✅ Employees can track and manage savings online

Key Points
